India's Highest Bungee: My 219 m Maa Ganga Bungee Experience

I never thought I would actually jump from India's highest bungee.
I went to Rishikesh for the first time in June, mostly to explore the city, see the Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat and do what I normally do on a trip explore.
Bungee jumping wasn't even on my plan.
Then I started seeing bucketlistt's ads for the 219 m Maa Ganga Bungee in Devprayag.
At first, I was curious.
Then nervous.
And eventually, I was asking the team the same question again and again:
"It's safe, right?"
This was my first-ever bungee jump.
And somehow, I ended up standing at the edge of 219 metres.

From Rishikesh to Maa Ganga Bungee
I reached the Maa Ganga Bungee office in Tapovan around 9 AM, and from there we headed towards Devprayag — the town where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi meet to become the Ganga.
The journey took around two hours.
I was nervous the entire way, but the views definitely helped distract me.
And then I saw the tower.
Bro. It was HUGE.
Seeing 219 m in real life was completely different from seeing it in an advertisement.
That was the moment I thought:
"Oh shit. I'm actually going to jump from there."

Standing at the Edge of 219 m
Once we reached, they checked my weight, gave me a waiver and ran a safety briefing.
Then they put the harness on me and checked it I remember it being checked around four separate times.
That actually made me feel more comfortable. I could see they weren't just strapping people in and saying "go."
There's even a board at the jump point that says something like "Don't use your brain."
At that moment I completely understood it. Mine was doing the opposite.
And then came the moment.
I was standing at the edge of 219 metres.
This was the scariest part for me.
I almost backed out.
Actually, I almost backed out twice.
The team kept encouraging me. They didn't give up when I got nervous.
Then they said:
"Aaj nahi toh kabhi nahi."
That stayed in my head.
Okay. One last try.
3... 2... 1...
I jumped.

I Actually Did the 219 m Bungee
Those first few seconds were the scariest.
But then it happened.
And suddenly, I was just happy.
"Finally! I did it!"
Before the jump, I was questioning whether I could actually do it. After, I was sitting there thinking: I actually did that.
And then something funny happened.
I stayed there and watched other people jump. A few minutes earlier, I was the one thinking about backing out. Now I was sitting there watching everyone else do it. 😂
That's when I realised how much my mindset had changed.
I got my photos and video on WhatsApp afterwards, and the quality was genuinely good worth having, because the jump itself happens far too fast to remember properly.

Would I Do It Again?
Absolutely.
For me, this was a lifetime experience. The scariest part was standing on the edge and those first three seconds. The best part was the feeling immediately after.
I felt like: "Okay, I can do anything now." 😂
So I went on to do more adventures giant swing, ziplining and river rafting.
Looking back, the Maa Ganga Bungee wasn't just about the jump. It was about finally doing something I was genuinely scared of.

Before You Book
Cost. I paid around ₹6,000 including photos and video. The current Roof Top Bungy listing shows ₹6,000, with the range across Maa Ganga packages sitting around ₹5,000–₹6,800 depending on inclusions.
Booking. You can pay 10% to reserve and settle the balance at the location. My ticket came through on WhatsApp.
Transport. Pickup is from the Tapovan area. Transport must be booked in advance — before 8 PM the previous day — and isn't guaranteed for later bookings.
Eligibility. Age 12–55, weight 45–110 kg, waiver required, and final participation depends on an on-site safety assessment. Certain heart conditions, high blood pressure, neurological conditions, pregnancy and recent injuries are excluded. If you're unsure, ask the operator before booking rather than relying on a blog.
What to wear. Comfortable clothes. Avoid sarees, skirts and loose jewellery, and secure your phone before heading up.
How long. The activity itself runs about 30–45 minutes including briefing and harnessing but budget for travel, registration and the return journey on top. Treat it as a full day, not something you squeeze between two Rishikesh activities.
Is it safe? I felt reassured by the crew and the preparation, and the listing states certified instructors, a mandatory briefing and proper harness systems. But I won't tell you it's 100% risk-free it's an adventure activity at a serious height.
Follow the operator's instructions and be honest about your medical history. Uttarakhand regulates adventure tourism operators through the state tourism department, so it's worth checking that any operator you book with is registered.
What if you back out at the edge? I almost did but I didn't actually leave the platform, so I can't tell you from experience. Check the cancellation terms on your booking beforehand; they usually depend on how far in advance you cancel. And if you're scared up there, tell the crew. I did.
